Our bodies were designed to move! But not all movement is created the same. You may have tried yoga, pilates, lifting, running, walking, zumba or any other guided exercise & just found it more stressful than fun. This is where your own creativity gets to come in. So find some space in your house, put on some music & let's do something weird.
Sit on the floor and just start moving in any way that feels good: rolling your shoulders like you're listening to good music, making weird patterns in the air with your hands, making faces, doing splits... whatever you start doing, try to notice why it feels good. And while you're focusing on this feeling of WHY, start consciously breathing. Imagine you're sucking in healing & some color of light that you like. Move it to that area that feels good. With each breath, figure out how to expand that good feeling to more areas of your body. Maybe this means you'll try a stretch that you're not usually good at. Only go as far as feels good & take note of why you aren't going any further. Just observe yourself as fully as you can.
Everytime you feel kind of bluh just try this. Try to recall what your body taught you last time & work on deepening that stretch or learn about a new part of your body. This will give you an introduction into what kind of movement is right for you. If you want to start an exercise program, choose one that uses similar movements to what you were naturally drawn to. And think outside the box: belly dancing, swimming, singing on stage, hiking & walking in heels are all great exercise. Just find what lights your fire & makes you feel ALIVE!
