Bodily/ mental awareness helps you measure your progress and the outcomes of anything you are doing over the long term to facilitate change. You need this measurement as a realistic guideline when you are trying to know yourself.
Learn how to cultivate a means of being bodily or mentally aware. Eat slowly and notice how your food makes you feel, or when you move try to feel how your body is actually responding and tailor your movements to a good response.
Set times to check in with yourself. If you find that you need something, try it. Then checking again to see the results of that. This is how you let your body guide you. The same could also be said for your good ideas. If you think you need to do something, give awareness to that thought and honor it by figuring out what steps you would need to take in order to actually do it. This process of bringing our thoughts to fruition releases dopamine in our brains once we reach the gratification stage of actually seeing what you've achieved. Now that's a healthy addiction!
